Hold On To The Memories, They Will Hold On To You

sdrOn Friday night I finally ticked an item off my bucket list that had been on there for quite some time. I went to see Taylor Swift in concert, and it was everything I hoped it would be. I had the absolute time of my life, I don’t think I stopped grinning from ear to ear throughout the whole thing. At one point I thought my cheeks were going to digsplit form how wide I was smiling.

Now, Taylor Swift has a bit of a reputation (see what I did there) and she’s one of those people that you either love or you hate. Kind of like marmite. Unfortunately for me, most of my close friends hate her, so they definitely didn’t want to come see her with me. Fortunately, I’ve got to a point in life where I’m not going to let that stop me, so I decided to go alone anyway.

I have to admit, there was a time in my life where I would have let the opinions of others stop me from going. In fact, there was a time in my life where I stopped listening to her music completely because I let an ex get inside my head and convince me that I shouldn’t listen to her music because it wasn’t what they deemed “good” or “cool”. Funnily enough, ‘We Are Never Getting Back Together’ became my anthem when we finally broke up for the last time.

I’m so glad I’ve got past letting other people’s opinions affect my actions, otherwise I would have missed out on what has definitely been one of the best experiences of my (admittedly short) lifetime.

digI’d never been to a Taylor Swift concert before, so this was a whole new experience for me, but boy what an experience it was. I’d seen videos from her other tours before however, so I was expecting a performance. Like a blow your mind, no expenses spared, jaw dropping, all out performance. She did not disappoint one bit.

digThe whole concert was absolutely visually stunning, and the atmosphere was electric. The set design was absolutely incredible with so many cool features, including a tilting stage that featured during ‘Look What You Made Me Do’, and of course a lot of snakes. There were also cool light up bracelets that everyone was given as they went in that were programmed to fit in with what was happening on the stage that were pretty awesome.

She performed a mixture of songs from her newest albums, and some of her older hits as well, and the whole concert flowed like a story being told on the stage. The story of her, where she started and how she’s ended up where she is today. The whole thing was just incredible. It truly was a breath-taking experience, and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to experience it.

People may love Taylor Swift, people may hate her. But one thing is for certain, boy does she know how to put on a truly incredible show.
